What are we trying to solve?

Sustainable leaders who are eager to take action in their work and beyond, feel difficult finding training resources about how to actively make positive changes in the cultural sector. The leaders want to be an industry educator who can pass on their knowledge and practice to individual activists and connect with next generation to protect and be recognised of valuable cultural assets.

The Research Goal

Understand the current state of cultural sustainability and how sustainable leaders stay connected with their communities to build awareness of valuable cultural assets.

Many people are still unaware of the sustainability and how it matters to their lives

Jan | Cultural Funding

No many constitutions /organizations promote the sustainability topics

Jan | Cultural Funding

"Every job is a climate job" and  "Every industry is a sustainable industry" - Most will have recognized their leverage points to support sustainability.

Jan | Cultural Officer

Either a virtual or in-person meet-up, it's important to have specific topics to discuss about, not just meeting up with people

Marina | Sustainability Officer

No commitments on continuous learning development

(eg: attend a workshop and never return)

Survey

16 responses received within internal users

I designed the survey questionnaire for the existing KP users with closed questions that focused on each features such as Event calendar.

Moira informed us that the current communication method needs an improvement due to a lack of response to the updated reports and events.

The survey response gave us the fundamental data of usability and accessibility in features.

50%

The "Event Calendar" was the most used feature of KP.

44% of users have subscribed to the Event Calendar.

67%

Users are interested in joining the "1:1 session" as a part of the GNM (Global Network Meeting).

Competitor Analysis

4 direct & indirect competitors analyzed
Summary

Competitor analysis gave me an in-depth understanding of the top industry performers and how they connect with their audience consistently to keep their practices.

With the amount of resources, educational materials and programs, the competitors are confident in integration with stakeholders and building trust between them.

Proving an in-person class, events and meetups seems more successful in order to strengthen the connection and better interactions with audience, compared to virtual conferences and webinars.

Industry Research

 Desktops, SNS research conducted
Cultural sustainability = Social Sustainability

Sustainable development can not be achieved if we don’t preserve the diversity of the different cultures worldwide.

Sustainable Development Goals

The SDGs provide an opportunity to make cultural sustainability a priority in all areas of development.

Contributions to Economy

Today, many cities use cultural heritage and cultural events and institutions to improve their image, stimulate urban development, and attract visitors as well as investments.

Environment, Social and Governance

ESG is a sustainable business strategy that is beneficial to an organization’s bottom line.

Heuristic Evaluation

3 evaluators assessed the current platform of Ki Port
User Control & Freedom

The website isn't linked to the portal.

There's no "Go Back" button is provided after an individual page of All Member is open.

Error Prevention

The section of "My Budge" is clickable but doesn't function - no message provided

Flexibility & Efficiency of Use

The current platform is limited in personalization in the setting, especially for notifications.

Currently, the users can only customize email notification for direct message.

Help users recognise, diagnose and recover from errors

On the "Sign-in /Log-in" page,

the users are not given any direction when they enter wrong detail (username, password) as the screen stays the same without caution (eg: change to red to indicate where to cocrrect)

Refined Problem Statement

Sustainable leaders who are eager to take action in their work and beyond, feel powerless delivering their knowledge and practice to their communities to continuously maintain sustainable actions.

The leaders want to create the fundamental and transformative movement that can keep activists informed and expand their networks to increase social awareness and find productive solutions in the cultural sustainability.
